Probably the best project I’ve worked on in the last year. We have wonderful friends who own an apple orchard about 30 minutes south of Minneapolis called Sweetland Orchard. Not only do they have delicious apples, but Mike, Gretchen, Audrey and Mack are just excellent people.
We’ve been devoted customers of theirs for years, and this past fall we even got to help out working their both at the Bloomington Farmers Market. Aside from growing apples, Mike has been brewing and selling hard cider from their barn. It’s delicious and they sell it on tap their or you can bring home a couple of 22oz bottles of one of their varieties. I was lucky enough to get to design their bottle labels. Paper cutting seemed specifically designed for something like this, with it’s hand made qualities aligning well with the hand made nature of the cider.
I’ve done labels for four of their varieties: Scrumpy (Original, Sweet and Gold), Northern Spy, Roundabout and Whippersnapper. Whippersnapper is their newest variety, and since it’s only partially fermented, they can’t bottle it. But I made a label anyway so they had something to display in the barn.
